Solihull’s Independents Day 2016
Published on Tuesday, 28 June 2016
Local businesses are encouraged to get involved in a number of ways, including creating window displays, special offers, tasters, demonstrations or entertainment. More info is available at http://www.solihull.gov.uk/highstreetbusinesssupport
Residents can log on to www.solihull.gov.uk/independentsday during July to find an interactive map highlighting a variety or local retailers, along with offers and incentives to encourage consumers to ‘shop local’. We also want to hear about your favourite local shop and what it offers, simply email us at highstreetsupport@solihull.gov.uk with details and we’ll add them to the map.
To launch Independents Day, Councillor Ken Hawkins, Cabinet Member for Environment, Housing and Regeneration, recently visited some local businesses in Balsall Common including La Delicia and John Taylors Butchers. He said:
"Solihull is fully committed to supporting our small, independent businesses, which make a huge contribution to the local economy. “I encourage all our independent businesses to sign up and take part in this incredibly beneficial movement.
Get involved by liking our social media pages https://twitter.com/shoplocalsoli and https://www.facebook.com/shoplocalsolihull/ which will show case a different business every day in July, from around the borough giving local residents the opportunity to trial and visit their local shops.
